Here at Homefield Preparatory School, we appreciate that choosing the right school for your son is one of the most important decisions you will make as a parent. We want to make the process as simple as possible and our Admissions team, Sue Evans and Vesna Weekley will support you every step of the way. Spaces do sometimes become available during the school year, so please do get in touch to enquire if you are looking for a particular year group.
Arrange a visit
First, we encourage all prospective parents to come and visit us to experience what a normal school day is like for the boys. You can do this either by booking a place on one of our Open Mornings held regularly throughout the year or by arranging an individual tour of the school with our Admissions Team. You will be made to feel very welcome. Our next Open Mornings are planned for:
Wednesday 23rd January (9.20am)
Tuesday 12th March (9.20am)
The next step is to register your son with us by completing our Online Registration Form (or if you prefer you can download and send us a Registration Form). There is a non-refundable registration fee of £100, payable by cheque to ‘Homefield Preparatory School’. Alternatively you can pay by bank transfer and our Registrar will provide you with our bank details.
Once we have your registration form we will make arrangements with you for your son to come in and be assessed. We hold our main assessment session every year on a Saturday morning in mid October. If you have missed this date please do feel free to contact us as there may still be some availablity in certain year groups. Our Admission Team will be able to let you know. If we do have a vacancy we can then arrange for your son to be assessed at a convenient time during the school day.
For your reassurance, we do not seek to make the assessments competitive and they do not require any advance preparation. The primary purpose of the assessment is to ensure that boys will be comfortable once they have started at Homefield.
Your son can be assessed with us from 2 years and 6 months. For Nursery and Reception entry, the assessment takes the form of a play session and will last up to half an hour. For entry into the Junior Department (Years 1-3), the assessment will last about an hour, and for the Senior Department (Years 4-8), assessment lasts an hour and a half.
Offer of a place
Providing your son meets our entrance criteria, an offer of a place for him will then be made. On acceptance of this offer, we ask for a deposit of £500. This acceptance fee is non-refundable if your son subsequently does not join Homefield Preparatory School. However, if he does join us then this sum will be returned to you at the end of your son's last term at the school after outstanding expenses have been cleared.
